People's Choice Awards Fashion: Red Carpet's Best Dressed
Friday, 13 January 2012

People's Choice Awards Fashion Red Carpet's Best DressedThe People's Choice Awards aren't exactly known for being a sartorial haven, but I'll admit it - I was a bit impressed by a few fashion underdogs last night. Check out who made the cut for Ology's PCA Red Carpet Best Dressed. Hate if you will, but Chloe Moretz most certainly deserved the award for Favorite Movie Star Under 25, even though she's just more than a decade under the limit. The 14-year-old Hugo star shined in a green and black Proenza Schouler frock.

Emma Stone completely dazzled in a trim green and black Gucci blazer and tuxedo pants that fit like a glove. She finished the look with t-strap pumps and a light makeup. If you ask me, she outshone every other starlet there. Did anyone else catch Vanessa Hudgens eyeing the HELL out of Demi Lovato while she was accepting her award after her performance? Obviously jealousy aside, Vanessa looked great in a black Jenny Packham gown from the Fall 2011 range.

I don't think I'll ever say this ever again, but I really loved Miley Cyrus' People's Choice Awards look. The 19-year-old star stunned in a pale cream frock with a plunging mesh neckline panel by David Koma. She paired the dress with red Jimmy Choo pumps and a clutch by Marchesa. Shockingly demure. Lucy Hale caught some flack for going all-black but I loved her gothic-femme look! The Pretty Little Liars starlet looked amaze in a Cengiz Abazoglu gown from the Spring 2012 couture collection.

Foregoing the obvious shine (oil pads, ladies!) and the stiff up-do, I really enjoyed Jennifer Morrison's vintage-inspired embroidered dress from Oscar de la Renta's spring 2012 collection. She'd have faired better with shoes in a different hue like bronze or even a contrasting wine red. Ginnifer Goodwin dared to go bright in a florescent pink bell-sleeved frock by Roksanda Ilincic, keeping her accessories and hair simple to spotlight the dress.

I can't say I've ever lauded Kristen Bell for her sartorial eye but this red Valentino leather dress just worked for her. She finished the look with gold toe-tap heels by Julianne Hough's go-to gown is always backless, and this silver metallic mini-dress did wonders for her last night. It doesn't hurt that her hair and makeup were both flawless. 26-year-old host Kaley Cuoco showed off her amazing figure in a light peach floral applique'd Badgley Mischka SS 2012 gown - the first of a rumored 27 dresses.

From Utilitarian to 50s Glamour: Rio Fashion Week Kicks Off
Wednesday, 11 January 2012

Rio de Janeiro's winter 2012 fashion week got under way this Tuesday with a series of couture collection displays by designers like Alexandre Herchcovitch, Erika Frade and Alessa Migani. Herchcovitch started the event with his utilitarian-inspired collection in monochromatic hues. Known for his eclectic prints, the Brazilian designer has also showcased his work in global fashion platforms including the New York, Paris, London and São Paulo Fashion Weeks.

From Utilitarian to 50s Glamour: Rio Fashion Week Kicks Off

According to the AFP, Herchcovitch was the sole dark and serious note in an otherwise color-drenched day that included a sumptuous kimono collection from Patachou, rhinestone and silk flower-covered offerings from Acquastudio.

Truly enough, as compared to Herchcovitch's sober hues and patterns, other collections involved usage of bold shades, prints and designs. Patachou's collection had a distinct eastern influence, which includes kimono pattern wrap-dresses with glittering details.

A complete contrast to the other collections was the elegant ladylike creations by fashion label Acquastudio involving floral detailing and pastel hues, reportedly having a distinct 1950s influence. Take a look at the slideshow of the 2012 Rio de Janeiro fashion week.

Also showcased was Cannon’s on-ear headphones called, “Ntune.” All products promise advanced ControlTalk Universal, which provides easy music playback control for most Android and Blackberry devices, as well as hands-free calling with many smartphones.
